John Boulderstone is a pioneering figure in alternative health and the creator of the Boulderstone Technique, a hands-on therapeutic approach developed in 1996. His work centres on the life force, a natural current of energy within the body that, when blocked, can lead to a wide range of physical or emotional symptoms.
John's Story
Originally trained as a mathematics teacher, John later studied homeopathy, craniosacral therapy, and yoga. These disciplines shaped his understanding of the body and mind, and laid the groundwork for a new approach to healing; one that doesn’t rely on diagnosis, analysis, or conversation. Instead, the Boulderstone Technique supports the body’s own ability to release trauma and return to a state of ease.
John is the author of Living with Vitality (Findhorn Press, 2006), a guide to restoring health through the life force, and The Still Point and the Dance (2024), which explores how illness often arises from inner conflict, and how healing begins when that conflict is resolved. His clinic in Royal Tunbridge Wells has welcomed thousands of patients over the past three decades, many of whom arrived after exhausting other options.
While John has exhibited at conferences such as the Complex Trauma Institute Spring Conference and the Veterans’ Mental Health Conference, his method remains largely ignored by mainstream healthcare. Because it cannot be tested in traditional clinical trials, it is often dismissed; regardless of the consistent, lived results reported by patients. Without a drug or placebo to compare, the process doesn’t fit the standard research model. And so, it is rarely funded, studied, or acknowledged.
This has been a long-standing frustration for John. Not because he seeks recognition, but because this way of thinking prevents people from getting help. Too many are told they must talk, relive, or analyse their trauma in order to recover. And when that doesn’t work (or when it feels impossible) they are left believing there’s something wrong with them. John’s work challenges that idea. He continues to treat patients, write, and speak about the technique, not to persuade the institutions, but to reach the people who’ve been let down by them.
If that’s you, you’re not alone. There is another way to heal - even if you haven’t been able to put it into words.
